Times are Changing
It's hard to believe it's already 2023! So much has changed over the past few years and apparently it's been quite the long time since I wrote a blog. Farm life can be challenging to say the least but it is rewarding too. Nothing beats the smell of fresh cut hay curing in the fields and watching the crops mature into harvest season. Summer used to be my favorite season because I love warm weather but I think fall maybe taking the top spot for my favorite season. The cool mornings just and harvest season gearing up makes for really exciting times. Also I love all the fall decorations! Over the past few years I have started to plant apple and peach trees and I will tell you it is a humbling experience. Between the bugs and late spring freezes it has been a bit frustrating but one day we will have an orchard full of fresh fruit! With that being said I am thinking doing a fall recipe series by sharing some of my favorite recipes. They will probably just be written instructions for now but maybe one day in the future I will have a video series. Because if you're like me it's easier to follow a video verses reading written instructions. So keep a lookout for new recipes!
This year we also took crops to the Kentucky State Fair and much to our surprise we brought home a lot of ribbons. We had the champion bale of hay and lots of blue ribbons with our corn. It was also my first time doing seed art and it came out better than I expected!
I hope everyone else has had a wonderful summer and I hope fall will be even better.
